How to Make and Leave Room for God

Sharpening the Saw: Spiritual

What does it mean to Just be? Just live? Just smile? Just act? Just be still?

When the New Year rolled in, I decided no new resolutions and finish the undone projects from 2018. I decided to stop over planning with an A and B and sometimes C plan. Instead, I’d let God have his way in my life. I’d make room for God.  During the month of January, especially when I was swept in a whirlwind of deadlines, I thought am I making room for God.

I attempted to remain in the state of expectancy, but was I honestly, making room for God to move in my life. Was I overschedule, devoted to other things, and not leaving room in my day’s activity to hear his voice?

To check myself, I decided to do some research and make a list about how to make and leave room for God:

  • Listen to God more than people.
  • Learn to be still.
  • Find a quiet place to pray and listen to God speak.
  • Do not let my time be consumed with other things.
  • Do not be devoted to things, service, convictions more than tuning into God.
  • Test what I believe God has said after I’ve been in that quiet space.
  • Ask myself am I ready when God calls me to do; to go; to stop?
  • Don’t try to make it happen in my own strength and in my own timing.
  • Don’t calculate and estimate what will happen.
  • Don’t say this or that will happen.
  • Let God come into my life as He chooses, not on my terms.
  • I must cultivate the devotion of hearing God’s voice.
  • Listen more to God and less to people.

Until Next Time,

Praying God’s best life for you!

    • Hello Rona, Surrender seems like a dirty word at times, but when we follow Christ we have to surrender. Remember when he was in the garden, his tears like blood, I’m sure he didn’t want to surrender. Thanks for sharing.
