Forest Whitaker once said about his acting career:
“I want to get better as an actor, to keep trying to work harder, trying to discover something different,” he said. “In some ways, it’s a pretty frightening experience.”
As a fellow artist, I say that about my life. I want to keep trying to work harder as a writer, as a teacher, a scholar, a researcher. But more importantly, I want to get better as a child of God, a Christ follower, a Jesus fan. And I think I have to get in that space. Like an actor puts on his character’s clothes and essence and soul, I too must take off my old self and put on Christ. Embody the Essence of Christ.
