heart, mind, & spirit
Several years ago, I gave up making any type of new year’s resolution. The thing is, I love setting goals and attaining them. I get a thrill out of making a list and checking things off. So, when it came to making a new year’s resolution, I’d go overboard, creating too many demands of myself. And sometimes spending too much money on needless tools like baskets and organizing bins.
The year I ditched making resolutions was while rereading diary entries from the former year. Every other month, I had resolved to do something; therefore, the need to make one at the beginning of the year was pointless. After all, a resolution is finding an answer or a solution to something that needs to become clearer. That usually requires a routine or process that works. And we all know life changes, the sharpening of one’s saw, is a process; some things, many things, just do not resolve themselves overnight.
Therefore, with spiritual energy, genuine love, and the desire to do God’s will, I’m just sharpening my prayers, so I can be:
- Gracious without grumbling
- Give thanks without complaint
- Rest without rushing
- Wait as it will come on time
- Stand firm in the Lord
- Seek peace from the Lord
- Grow in wisdom, knowing life is brief
- Know my victory is in the battle
- And the triumph is in the trials.
What about you? What is your prayer for your life?
Until next time,
